Rolex Award
Rewards
Perhaps, if you are a fearful, you will surely hate enterprising, do you?; much even more if what you are enterprising is your own hard-earned money, is not? It is understandable that entrepreneurship is a risky undertaking because of the cloud of darkness that blurs your expectations. There are a lot of uncertainties and unverified expectations whether what you enterprise will yield you a great abundant harvest or mega dry bankruptcy.
Yes, enterprising is like and also gambling; gambling all your resources, especially money, in a hope to return it double or triple back to your barn and pocket. But the worst thing to happen to you or to an entrepreneur or gambler is if what he or she enterprise did not yield back. How painful is it, if it did not give you any harvest from your hard work of sowing your resources; and from such experiences the Rolex Wristwatch Company could sympathize. Thus, last 2009 it started its own Rolex Awards that awards young entrepreneurs who succeeded in their respective enterprising undertakings to give them a Reward Award for their good job.

Reese Fernandez
A reward of $ 50,000 and a Rolex chronometer for a good and effective enterprising activity whether on business, science and medicines, environment, technology and innovation; exploration and discovery; and on cultural heritage sector. Yes, there is a reward for being brave and steadfast on their trust and faith on their enterprising, but to the fearful ones? A scary and terrifying future maybe, ehehe.
Recently, a young Filipino entrepreneur has won the sympathy and impression of the officials of the Rolex Awards, being one of the recipients of 2010 Rolex Awards for Enterprise: Young Laureates Program. She is Reese Fernandez, a 25 year old Filipina who is up into social entrepreneurship in assisting women financially of how to make a living out of the resources they have. She is actually a co-founder of the Rags2Riches Enterprise organization that assists women to recycle scrap materials that can be transform into rugs. Her passion to help others has led her to create the business organization she has now,the Rags2Riches,which help the poor women in Payatas Philippines make a living out of the heap of trash and garbage the Payatas women are surrounded with.
Other recipients of the 2010 Rolex Awards Young Laureates came from United States, India, Ethiopia and Nigeria which have of course the same situation with Reese.
“The Young Laureates Programme, an expansion of the Rolex Awards for Enterprise, fosters innovation in the next generation. Launched in 2009, the initiative supports visionary young men and women at a critical juncture in their careers, enabling them to implement inventive ideas that tackle the world’s most pressing issues in five areas: science and health, applied technology, exploration, the environment and cultural preservation…..The Young Laureates Programme was designed to complement the original Rolex Awards for Enterprise; it does not replace it. Established in 1976 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Oyster chronometer – the first-ever waterproof watch – the Rolex Awards reward extraordinary and often unrecognized individuals with concrete projects that expand human knowledge and contribute to well-being. With the new initiative, Rolex is focusing on a younger generation of achievers who are tackling today’s biggest challenges with a similar spirit of enterprise.
