Bad Luck For Sharon

Has the career of the A-list and famous Philippine actress and TV host Ms. Sharon Cuneta on trouble waters upon making a big decision to transfer to third class TV network TV5 from the first class TV network –ABS-CBN channel 2;for she was continually bombarded with bad public criticisms lately because of her transfer to TV5?

She herself admitted that she was affected and annoyed by bad public criticisms on her move and was hurt, “All of a sudden ang sama-sama naming. It’s unfair to us artists, because this is our choice..,ang sakit-sakit naman ng mga paratang..”

Her move to TV 5 was cast in a bad light by those who admire her on the Kapamilya Network (ABS-CBN) as “Mukhang Pera” and was spread on media; prints and online. Her admirers wants her to stay on the Kapamilya Network, thus her sudden move was resented by her admirers for, for 23 years she was in the Kapamilya Network and they was hurt by her move which Ms. Cuneta could not comprehend why some react this way and that and in the same way her admirers on the Kapamilya Network could not comprehend why also.

“Nasaktan ako kasi some people thought it was the one billion..I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when I get labeled mukhang pera…..Pinaghirapan ko naman ito for more than 30 years..”, she confessed.

However, though she transfer to TV5 she has no any resentment or hurt feelings toward her former bosses in the Kapmilya Network, as well as also her former bosses in the Kapamilya Network toward her; they respect her decision as she respect them.

It is only the public that is making noise regarding her transfer to TV5, but however, it is the public itself who make her Star and famous Celebrity.

Thus, if she was continually cast upon a bad light by public viewers, her TV career or her career itself will be really on the bad luck since her new show in TV 5,which entitled : “ Sharon: Kasama Mo,Kapatid” is similar to her talk show on the Kapamilya Network. “ …I thought I deserved, and wanted my name on my show again. And it was TV 5 that gave it to me..”

Seems like another Willie and Wowowee transferring into TV5 as Willie and Willing-Willie and because of bad publicity it was reformatted into Wil Time Bigtime; so what will happen to Ms. Cuneta if her new show on TV 5 is a copy cat; “You are (It is) nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat!” Let us see what will happen on her second-rate copycat TT show on TV 5..

Jinx or Jerk TV Host?

Mr. Willie Revillame’s TV hosting success seems to have a twin misfortune; for recently Willie Revillame is again on the other side of the pole when he was publicly criticized again on his hosting attitude now on his show on TV5 – Willing Willie for abusing a child contestant to dance in a striptease way by force in exchange for 10,000 pesos though the child contestant doesn’t want to and on a crying shame while the audience laugh at his striptease dance while crying which incensed many and condemn it as an act of child abuse.

This incident have provoke Philippine departments like the Department of Social Welfare and Department (DSWD) which saw the incident as a clear child abuse and violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, while the Commission on Human Rights (CHR)saw it as a “criminal act”, the Partido Ng Mangagawa condemn Willie Revillame’s act as insensitive, disregard to child’s rights, abuse, and exploitation, and a Facebook account Anti-Willie Revillame considers him as the “National Jerk” and appeal to boycott him and his show on the Philippine Television; Wherein, the management of TV5 have as a public apology for the incident.

It seems Mr.Willie Revillame never learned his lessons from his defunct show Wowowee or he is just a jinx TV host that harbors such sorts of incidents or maybe he is really a jerk TV host that never analyzed first what his own tongue will utter?

Seems to be if Mr.Willie Revillame will not behave himself properly he will be the Philippines National Jerk TV Host in the Philippine television.

Clone or Original?

TV5 back then promises that it would be very different Philippine TV network that will not imitate the two giant Philippine TV networks that mimics one another and clone one shows, but is TV5 channel 5 really fulfilling its promise back then or have just repeatedly break and disappoint the expectation of the Filipino viewers who craves for a very different Philippine TV viewing experience? However, despite there are some originals, lately the TV station has been filled with mimic shows to keep its TV ratings in close contact with the two giant Philippine TV networks; they now go “in the flow” and lose their originality.

Aside from mimic shows like musical variety shows, comedy sitcoms, new and journalism programs ,fantasy-series, Korean series, drama anthology, showbiz news and intrigues, cartoons, child shows and some others; which are just a mere copied conceptualized shows from the two giant Philippine TV networks,TV5 have also finally jump into another mimicry when it boast to reveal their very first drama series –“Babaeng Hampaslupa”- or teleserye that will be aired on their primetime slot which is also similar to what the two Philippine TV giant network is doing which makes us realized that truly primetime drama series on Philippine TV is a very lucrative TV shows wherein one TV network could profit a lot.

Where is now the originality promised by TV5 back then?

Moreover, it also mimic the tagging of one’s TV station similar to the two giant Philippine TV networks that tagged their TV stations, by tagging one’s TV station to be a “Kapatid” station in line with ABS-CBN channel 2 tagged itself to be a “Kapamilya” and GMA channel 7 to be “Kapuso’; another mimicry of TV5 that deviates from its promise back then. That never ends there its mimic activities; actually most of the TV5 pool of stars are just former stars of the two giant Philippine TV networks that either transferred voluntarily into their TV station or have been courted and imported by TV5 into their station which gave Filipino viewers a sense of feeling that TV5 could be an extension network or sister TV station of either ABS-CBN channel 2 or GMA channel 7 for the TV viewing ambience resemble ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7.

But what about their TV show “Talentadong Pinoy” which is one of their top rating program, is it original or just another clone show? Actually, ”Talentadong Pinoy’ is also a copy cat show copied from the international talent shows with the same format, concept and style like “America’s Got Talent”, ”Britain’s Got Talent”, etc.(which ABS-CBN got franchise of it to make a Philippine version of it, that is “Pilipinas Got Talent”).Why don’t you check this out these foreign talent shows and compare to TV5’s “Talentadong Pinoy” show? They just change and altered some format to suit the Filipino needs but the theme and the concept of the foreign shows was still in this TV program of them. Moreover, what more disappointing to this TV5 show is they accused ABS-CBN channel 2 of copying their show whereas in reality they are the one who copied the concept and theme of the show from foreign talent shows. ABS-CBN just got a franchise of the original foreign talent show but them they don’t get a franchise but utterly copy the concept and theme.

Therefore, if TV5 will not stop mimicking other shows from other TV networks here and abroad and always importing stars and celebrities from other TV networks instead of creating of its own original conceptualized shows and breed its own home-grown stars, then TV5 will absolutely lose its identity and will not be really an alternative TV viewing TV network in the Philippines for Filipinos who demand and crave for truly fresh and brand new TV viewing experience in the Philippine TV but just a mere a copy cat TV station or a CLONE TV.

Who Made Willie?

If Willie was hurt so also the one who made him as he is now, thus his copy cat show on TV5-Willing Willie is continue on the rocks with his maker with the copyright infringement case that will continue to haunt his new show on TV5 unless Willie do some acknowledging and apology for he was not only the one that has been hurt.

ABS-CBN has the right to do so because its creative team have originally conceptualized the show Wowowee and not only Willie alone (if perchance, he was also involved in the conceptualization of the show) unless Willie Revillame ask a permission from the creative team of Wowowee to adapt the concept of his former show on ABS-CBN into his new show on TV5- Willing Willie, but does he, if ABS-CBN filed such case against him and his new show Willing Willie? Perhaps, if Mr. Willie Revillame has done what is right from the very start, he will not have any legal problems now though he transfers into another TV network. But sadly, he always do a sloppy spills, thus he always become controversial and on the thick of a legal problem. Now, what he will do?

Making his own maker bad on the public by saying he just wanted to “spread joy and help poor people” but ABS-CBN hinders him is indeed somewhat not pleasant and good indication of his attitude and not a valid excuse or justification.

What if ABS-CBN never helps him and give him chance then despite of his constant wayward attitude, if ABS-CBN is not very patient about him, will he able to reach now what he have now reached? Will his “Willing Willie” show on TV5 will rate high in the ratings without what ABS-CBN made him on his former show Wowowee? Perhaps, Willie Revillame should acknowledge and remember where he came from and who help him from scratch into his now stellar wealthy success every now and then in himself so that he will not fly too high and forget who owes his strong wings now and why he now on high. But to forget so and cast bad things to the one who put him on high and claimed he alone who made his strong wings is an indication of an ungrateful and unthankful character of him, which of course will cause him a lot of trouble and problems as he was now experiencing. If only he acknowledge whom he owes what he is now, there should be no problem. Though if he wish to transfer into another TV network and do a new TV show, he should respect and honor the one whom he owe his success through not copying concepts and ideas from the one whom he owe his success into his new TV show on new TV network without the permission of the one he owe his success. For doing so, is a great insult.

Thus, Mr. Willie Revillame is not the only one who has been hurt from the controversy but also the ABS-CBN TV network that made him what he is now. Perhaps, just a little respect and honor and acknowledgement is what Willie Revillame should do, in order to stop the legal case against his new show if he wanted everything to be okay and run smoothly.

Furthermore, TV5 channel 5 should not tolerate such ungrateful attitude to its own pool of stars to whom they owe their stellar success before they join TV5, just for the sake of grabbing public attention and seeking an increate rate of public viewership.

ABS-CBN filed case in good faith and simply to protect its rights under the law. It’s not motivated by ‘vengeance’ to get back at anyone. Infringement of Intellectual Property rights is a very serious matter akin to stealing another’s property. It’s also like plagiarism which the public has condemned in recent events.

ABS-CBN has a valid case and we will pursue it in court.

The “ultimate Heartthrob” of Philippine Showbiz Piolo Pascual is being rumored that he will transfer to Kapatid Channel(TV5) and got an offer from TV5 and leaving his long time home network ABS-CBN was personally denied by Piolo Pascual Himself :

“A, talaga? Hindi ko nga alam kung saan ang compound ng TV5, e.”

“I’m very much a Kapamilya. I’ve been a Kapamilya all my life.”

Tight Fight To Go On Top

The Amazing race on Philippine television have it again now what’s on the neck to neck competition is ABS-CBN‘s TV Patrol and TV5 Willing Willie. For the difference on the TV ratings of these two TV shows is just a decimal point away from one another. Thus, to keep the respective shows going into the peak of the pyramid, each respective shows added enhancement or gave touch of reformats and brand news to watch for.

On ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, ABS-CBN channel 2 have to shelve out two famous news anchors Julius Babao and Ms. Karen Davila from the show and replace them with another two famous news anchor that ABS-CBN channel 2 believe could enhance or improve TV Patrol’s ratings against the new TV5 show Willing Willie that is eating the audience share of TV Patrol. The new news anchor ABS-CBN channel 2 have put into the show are the former news anchor of TV Patrol namely, former Philippine vice-president Noli de Castro and Ms. Korina Sanchez, with a leap of faith that these two former TV Patrol news anchors could bring back the former glory of the news show and able to climb high away from TV5’s Willing Willie in the TV ratings.

Meanwhile, on the camp of TV5,the management of the show Willing Willie have added former romantic mate of his Excellency PNoy, Shalani Soledad as the co-host of Mr. Willie Revillame, as Willie Revillame himself personally requested and choose to be his co-host on the show.

The inclusion of Shalani Soledad on the show is surely sparks additional public curiosity on the new show, which indeed could drives greater viewership that elevate the new show ahead on top of the TV rating race and which could topple down former champions of the Philippine TV ratings.

Whoever wins in this another amazing race in TV ratings on the Philippine television, let us just hope that the management of the two respective shows should not only concentrate on how they could entertain and inform More with beyond mediocre, their fellow Filipinos who gave trust on their shows which in return boost their TV ratings and earn them revenues.
