There Lies The Mark of Lies
A lying lips and a malicious minds; what do they have in common? Of course, a false truth; A kind of truth that causes injustices.
This is what has happened to the two sensational sad criminal cases in the Philippines – (1) the fifteen year old case of the Visconde massacre, and (2) the recent case of the “Morong 43”.However, recently, the lies that keeps on hurting the involved parties of the two cases has been pull out to give way for the real truth and true justice to heal the wound it has caused by lies. But the stigma created by lies on the lives of the involved parties as well as to the curiosity of the unknowing public will still remain and will be hard to heal or will never heal.
In the case of the main suspect in the 15 year old Visconde massacre – Hubert Webb- though he now already acquitted to be innocent of the crime, the mark or stigma created by the lying lips of the forged star witness Jessica Alfaro will remain lying on his image on the unknowing public or to those who do not know him personally; As it always said “first impressions last”. How can he cleansed more his image from the havoc and ruin the lies of Jessica Alfaro have caused into his life which was wasted and ruin for 15 years?
If Hubert Webb’s 15 years has been wasted in jail and his image was stigmatized by the lies and likes of Jessica Alfaro, how much more with Mr. Lauro Visconde who trust much of the fake truths of Jessica Alfaro wherein until now he could not move on in his life but was retarded for 15 years relying only on Jessica Alfaro’s testimonies; wasting 15 years on trusting a lie though he has 15 years to search for another possible suspect of the crime. For from the very start, Jessica Alfaro’s credibility is already on question, so why he just wasted the 15 years without inquiring the other angle of the crime unless he himself is the main suspect or the one who kills his own family. Until now, this Visconde Massacre case in the Philippines remains sensational, controversial and mysterious; so also the case of “Morong 43”, minus the 15 years because it is just recent.
The “Morong 43” were suspected to be a group of communist rebels or New People’s Army (NPA) members disguised as health workers possessing firearms and explosive devices and attending bomb making seminar at the day of the military raid and their arrest, though the accusations of the military soldiers against them are not absolutely true for they were really health workers attending a health training course organized by the Council for Health Development, according to Dr. Melecia Velmonte who owns the resort in Morong Rizal were the so-called “Morong 43” attending; and consultant of Philippine General Hospital and a professor emeritus of the UP College of Medicine. However, despite of the testimony of Velmonte, still some of the members of the “Morong 43” admitted they were really NPA members and the soldiers do really found firearms wherein the stigma on NPAs ruin the image of the mingled non-members and now the unknowing public or those who do not know them personally can’t help but hold malice and suspicion upon their real identity.
These two cases are just examples of many cases of failed and flawed justice system in the Philippines wherein the innocent ones always play “Jesus Christ” (sacrificial lamb/sin carrier of others who actually have the real sin).
