Paint The Air Green
Usually new paintings on walls or on any surfaces have a bad smell is not it? It pollutes the air and paint the air blue, momentarily but in the long run when paints were completely dry the air in the room smells green again. But did you know that there is a paint that does not add to the air pollutants lingering on our surroundings but rather when paint on surfaces, the paint itself acts as an air cleaner? Moreover, did you know that this paint product is the First of its kind in the world and it is manufactured First in the Philippines, making the Philippines the pioneer country of this First of its kind paint in the world?
Perhaps some of you already know what I am referring to, yes, the No.1 paint company in the Philippines-Boysen or Pacific Paint Philippines Inc. has made this air-friendly paint product. They call it KNOxOUT paint. Yes,it is the KNOxOUT Boysen Paint. The paint name signifies the elimination (OUT) of the air pollutant nitrogen oxides (NOx) from the air polluted environment or place like the mega congested and polluted Metro Manila. But the paint product is not a gimmick because of its hard to believe promise of cleaning the air by just painting this paint product on the walls or any surfaces expose to air pollutants. For it was already tested by Boysen Philippines on MRT stations of Metro Manila and on London; you can see their proof of this on their official website.
“Boysen KNOxOUT contains CristalActiv photocatalytic technology, which is ultrafine titanium dioxide, (TiO2) that absorbs energy from light and transforms ordinary water vapor into hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals at the surface of the TiO2.
These free radicals, created in billionths of a second, become the reactive species that break down noxious air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) that come into contact with the surface. Harmful NOx gas is converted to nitric acid that is rapidly neutralized by alkaline calcium carbonate particle in the paint, producing harmless quantities of calcium nitrate and negligible amounts of carbon dioxide and water. Calcium nitrate is water soluble and easily removed from the film, leaving a fresh surface ready to engage the next pollutant to come into contact with the film. Other pollutants such as sulfur oxides (SOx) are broken down in a similar process.
A great advantage of this photocatalytic reaction is that the ultrafine TiO2 is not consumed in the reaction, but is merely a catalyst that continuously generates free radicals as long as there is sufficient light, air and moisture. Additionally, this reaction gives the paint self-cleaning and anti-bacterial properties.”

Boysen's KNOxOUT paint product
Boysen have partnership with Cristal Global Company wherein it is the one who brought the air-cleaning technology called CristalActiv photocatalytic technology. CristalActiv photocatalytic technology is an ultrafine titanium dioxide (TiO2) compound that absorbs ultraviolet energy from any given source of light or energy from the life source particularly the sun and transforms the water vapor in the air into a free radicals (hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals) that breaks down nitrogen oxides or the breaks down NOx into harmless substance.
This paint technology is First in the Philippines and now also available on other countries particularly Europe where Boysen have also done tests to prove what their brand new paint product KNOxOUT promises. This paint actually already used by some major businesses in the Philippines on their business to promote the “green concept” living and to save energy on their office buildings. Moreover, to promote health and wellness among their workforce or employees as well so that they could do their respective works properly without having respiratory illness due to bad air lingering on their offices or work place.
