What is the Phantom of the Opera?

The Phantom of the Opera “….tells the story of a disfigured musical genius known only as ‘The Phantom’ who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerised by the talents and beauty of a young soprano – Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine’s love for Raoul, The Phantom’s obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness and passions collide…” It was a masterpiece theatrical play created and written by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and produce by British theatrical producer Tim McFarlane, directed by Harold Prince and will be open or will begin to stage the play on August 25,2012.

The Phantom of the Opera “….has been seen by over 130 million people worldwide, in more than 27 countries, has won over 50 major theatre awards, and has grossed more than US$5.6 billion…” and continues to play on theatrical theaters “….nightly in London, New York and around the world…”

According to Managing Producer of The Phantom of the Opera Tim McFarlane ,not only the famous musical play hits the box office on European countries and New York but also on Asia-Pacific region Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Seoul, and is expecting to be a hit also in the Philippines.

“…This touring production of The Phantom Of The Opera is as fine as any version you might see on the West End or Broadway – it is the same superb design, and we invest a great deal to ensure it is of the highest standards. Our stellar cast assembles the industry’s best performers, with members coming from the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa to join forces. The Phantom of the Opera has enjoyed huge success throughout the Asia-Pacific region, having experienced sold-out seasons in cities such as Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Seoul, and I am confident that audiences in Manila will welcome the production with equal enthusiasm.”

It is a superb show which epitomizes all that is great about musical theatre – unbelievable music, a powerfully moving story, lavish sets and costumes, and most importantly, superb audience entertainment. The Phantom Of The Opera is a worldwide sensation which will take Philippine audiences on an unforgettable musical theatre journey…”
Moreover, James Cundall, the touring of the “The Phantom of the Opera” is complicated theatrical productions considering it is a show that is big, brilliant and bold show wherein they carry twenty five forty foot container vans filled with one hundred ten tons of scenery and two hundred thirty costumes and either ninety or one hundred thirty cast and crews according to him.

“…With 130 cast, crew and orchestra members, jaw-dropping scenery, breathtaking special effects and more than 230 costumes by international designer, the late Maria Björnson, The Phantom Of The Opera contains some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most famous and stirring music, including “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Music of the Night”….”

The Phantom of the Opera or Le Fantôme de l’Opéra is a novel written by a French writer name Gaston Leroux which was first published at the French Daily Newspaper, Le Gaulois, which was founded in 1868 by Edmond Tarbe and Henri de Pene and was published as mini-series from September 23, 1909 to January 8, 1910.However,the book publication of it or its publication from a mini-series from the French Daily Newspaper, Le Gaulois into book form was poorly patronized and was went out of publication due to its poor patronage by the reading public; but its film and stage adaptation or film and theatrical adaptation of it is the one that brings success to it for it shows to the public the “Spirit” or “phantom” on it which when read on book, it is quite boring and can’t see any “Spirit” on reading it, thus it is poorly patronized on book form or book publication.

In my opinion, it is the music and the cinematographical depiction on theatrical stage and on film which makes it a hit on the public and thus winning seven prestigious New York Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards and three Olivier Awards.

“..The timeless, romantic and much-loved musical has been honoured with seven prestigious New York Tony Awards, among them the Tony for Best Musical, seven Drama Desk Awards and three Olivier Awards…”
The Phantom in the Opera or the Spirit in the Opus play is a real person and not a “ghostly” entity that entices the opera or that mess up the opus being staged if the main protoganist never answer the suppose to be phantom or the one the scares the opus or the “Faust” Opera. Erik is the name of the anti -and-protoganist of the novel “The Phantom of the Opera” and Christine was the girl Erik is mad about.Erik pretends to be a phantom that mess up the opera because he wants to get Christine the main girl on the opera.Erik was a poor guy who needs and longs for love and affection and was fell in love with Christine and he kidnaps her by messing up the Opera hoping that Christine will also be in love with him despite of his ugly face or countenance.
“…The novel opens with a prologue in which Gaston Leroux claims that Erik, the “Phantom of the Opera”, was a real person…. After the chandelier crashes, Erik kidnaps Christine to his home in the cellars and reveals his true identity. He plans to keep her there only a few days, hoping she will come to love him, and Christine begins to find herself attracted to her abductor. But she causes Erik to change his plans when she unmasks him and, to the horror of both, beholds his face, which according to the book, resembles the face of a rotting corpse. Erik goes into a mad frenzy, stating she probably thinks his face is another mask, digging her fingers in to show it was really his face, and shouting, “I am Don Juan Triumphant!” and crawls away, crying. Fearing that she will leave him, he decides to keep her with him forever, but after two weeks, when Christine requests release, he agrees, on condition that she would wear his ring and be faithful to him…”

Punk Rocks Loud No More

Punk Rock is a type of music rock genre that is loud and with provocative lyrics in some punk rock bands which started at the middle of 1970s from United States and United Kingdom that creeps into the music industry of the Philippines in the early 1980’s which eclipses the classical type of music genre like jazz being played in the radio airwaves or radio station in the Philippines then which has evolved into now called “Alternative Rock” music, headed by Bamboo, Parokya Ni Edgar, Eraserheads, Sponge Cola, and others which becomes mellows or mellow rock type of rock music genre.

Where are now the punk rocks bands in the Philippines, are there any revival of it or in other words is there a punk rock bands still famous nowadays? The most latest updates and big event gathering of some Pinoy Punk Rock Bands so far was last year 2009, as I know which is the “Metal and Hardcore Punk Nite” held at Tomas Morato corner E. Rodriguez, Quezon city which consists of 9 punk rock bands in the Philippines, some of them are oldies punk rock band from 1980s like Bad Omen punk rock band that was formed on the late 80’s and which “..gained notoriety in the early 90’s by playing underground shows and having participated in the compilation “Screams From The Underground” where original members Ramir..” which played guitar and as well as vocalist; Rheetyard which played drums, and Fishbone which played bass instrument.

Moreover, according to their fan page at face book “….the band then released their debut self titled full length record otherwise known as ‘The Black Cat Record’ where the single, ’Maling Sistema’ went on full rotation in the now defunct radio station LA 105.Several lineup changes went on throughout the 90s but the band steadily played shows and kept on releasing seminal punk records “Sell Out” and “We’re Back” as well as several compilations on Middle Finger Records. Original drummer Rheetyard went on to form NSA, which released numerous recordings on cassette bearing different meaning of the band’s acronym while…” the second generation vocalist according to Bad Omen name Ab,”… went on to other projects like Dear Dingo..”

Last 2009, the Bad Omen Pinoy punk rock band went on into embarkment on their very first international tour into Southeast Asia, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, “…the group embarked on their 1st Southeast Asian mini tour and hit Singapore and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia…The band is presently in the process of recording yet another record which is slated for the 2011 release..”But however, their 2011 CD was not known for it is already 2012.

Another Pinoy Punk Rock Band from the 2009 big gig night at Tomas Morato is the punk rock band “Betrayed”.

Betrayed punk rock band is said to be the Philippines’ premiere hardcore punk band according to the Pinoy punk rock band itself. It was born or formed in 1983 at Queens, New York by Eddie Siojo and his high school friend; the name of the punk rock band was taken, according to their fan page from the “…the Stiff Little Fingers Song ‘Rough Trade’”

However, they officially formed it when they meet in UP or University of the Philippines. At then, they call themselves “Jump Boys” which consists of three boys, namely Eddie Siojo as the lead singer and bassist player; Buddy Trinidad as the guitarists and David Reyes as one who played the drums.

However, the trio change their band name, ”Jump Boys” upon the suggestion of Eddie Siojo into Betrayed. “..the trio call themselves Jump Boys, then switch to Betrayed when Eddie Siojo suggests playing the latter’s material..”

The punk rock band become famous on UP campus grounds by playing interschool concerts and from then on, the Pinoy punk rock band Betrayed become famous at their time and come up with new fresh line ups performers as the former quits or pass away.

“They become visible on the UP interschool concert circuit, including the Brave New World concert series organized by Chaos guitarist Tommy Tanchangco. The band also gains essential radio airplay on RJAM; Dante ‘Howlin Dave’ David’s groundbreaking radio show Pinoy Rock N’ Rhythm.

Among the line up performers of the Pinoy punk rock band Betrayed, that replaces those who quitted and pass away were

1. Chris Canre : bass player from 1983 -1984
2. Carl Avecilla : drums player from 1983 -1984

“..Betrayed’s current line up is Buddy Trinidad (vocals/guitar). Boyet Miguel (guitar), Peng (bass) and Manny Pagsuyuin (drums)..”
However, the most successful line up comes from circa 1985 where they released two albums which becomes a hit.

“The band’s most successful line up circa 1985 consisted of Buddy Trinidad. singer Dominic Gamboa, guitarist Boyet Miguel and drummer Manny Pagsuyuin. They released two albums, the seminal self-title debut on DMZ records (under the auspices of A2Z Records) then re-issued on TRC, and “Again” in 1996..”

Another Pinoy Punk Rock Band is the Dead On Arrival (DOA) Band which is a metal core and hardcore band that consist of Daniel for drums; Doodoo for Bass; Jay for Guitar 1; Ferbie for Guitar 2;and Chippy for or as shouter. They have active gigs lately this year 2012.However not popular on mainstream media.

Divided We Fall is another Pinoy Punk Rock Band that is straightedge hardcore Punk Rock Band which spreads Krishna Consciousness.
“Divided We Fall is a straightedge hardcore punk band spreading Krishna Consciousness to its loyal followers. They are influenced by legendary bands Cro-Mags, Shelter and Youth of Today. They also do a mean cover of Biofeedback.’ Lasenggo, Gago’..”

The band consist of Ramil for vocals; Dencio for guitars; Jay for bass; Advaita for guitars, and Roblin for drums. However, former Divided We Fall punk rock band line ups or performers were, Alain for vocals ; Ryan for guitars.Chizo for guitar also; Jojo for bass; and Jevic also for bass.

Another Philippine premier Pinoy Punk Rock Band is the “Tame The Tikbalang” punk rock band. It is one of the longest surviving hardcore punk bands in the Philippines.

The” Tame The Tikbalang” Pinoy Punk Rock Band started in 1992 and there has been so far no changes in line up of performers but always the originals; members of the punk band are : Russell Eustaquio for vocals; Aries Victorino for bass guitar; Jepoi Bagtas for drums and Boyet Miguel for guitars.

“There have been a few line up changes since then, a few ups and downs along the way and they have since released a full length CD entitled “Forever Shall Be” under their own label Carmen Records..”
The name of the punk rock band, Tame The Tikbalang, according to the Tame The Tikbalang vocalist, Russell Eustaquio, gets it name from a sculpture Jack Sikat have seen in Makati that is called “The Taming of the Tikbalang” which Jack Sikat himself relate to Russell Eustaquio.

“I got the idea for the name, from Jack Sikat of Ethnic Faces. He had seen a Sculpture in Makati called ‘The Taming of the Tikbalang’ and I thought that would be a great name for a band..”

Tame The Tikbalang started as a groove-oriented rock band. They are the post rock band that preceded the Eraserheads that has gain a reputation on music industry in the Philippines because of their blistering live performances on the legendary Club Dredd.

“Our music started out more groove-oriented, because I was influenced by black rock and soul…”.”They soon become the darling of the hardcore scene, performing at the legendary Club Dredd and keeping the hardcore flame burning through the post- Eraserheads ‘alternative rock’ years. The band gained a reputation for their blistering live performances and would eventually release a 9-song album, ”Forever Shall be” in year 2002..”

Na Siete Si Claudine

Has anyone knows Claudine nowadays? Since she left the TV network ABS-CBN Channel 2,her career becomes spinning down the drain up into no one already know who she is because rough times just shit(Siete)(7) her when she transfer to GMA Channel 7; from flop TV shows into rumor break-ups with her husband actor Raymart Santiago into financial bankruptcy; from her rumor return to TV network ABS-CBN Channel 2;and now into controversial heat up together with her husband Raymart Santiago with columnist Ramon Tulfo at the arrival area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 last Sunday, May 6,2012.

The brawl started according to reports that when actress Ms. Claudine Barreto reprimanded the flight attendant of the Cebu Pacific Airlines when she found out some of her luggage were missing then she saw an unknown man taking coverage or taking pictures what was happening with her with the flight attendant while she bash loudly in front of the other passengers regarding their missing luggage which according to Ms. Barreto and her group was left or off-loaded by a personnel at Aklan airport without their consent from their Boracay trip when they arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 thru Cebu Pacific Airlines.

Her husband actor Raymart Santiago or Martin Santiago in real life confronted the unknown man taking advantage of her wife bashing acts and found out to be the columnist Ramon Tulfo who happens to be on the arrival area also from his trip from Davao. According to columnist Ramon Tulfo, at first he felt pity for what happened to celebrity couple Raymart and Claudine but change his heart when he saw the tongue lashing acts of Ms. Barreto to an ordinary flight attendant and then took advantage the incident as a journalist who seeks interesting, controversial and juicy reports.

Who the first who took the punch and skirmish was not yet known for the incident is still under investigation, however, both parties blame it’s the other party who started the brawl, thus both file counter charges. Sad to say the incident was not caught by a close circuit television (CCTV) cameras according to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 manager Octavio Lina.

The incident is now the talk of the town and actress Ms. Claudine Barreto’s career just become worst because of the said incident or brawl. Her showbiz career just become more “Shit”(Siete :7) since she transfer to GMA Channel 7 for if it is not why her showbiz becomes lie low.

More unpleasant incidents involving her, her Philippine showbiz career will become doom or she will become one of the forgotten actresses on the Philippine entertainment industry.

Bad Luck For Sharon

Has the career of the A-list and famous Philippine actress and TV host Ms. Sharon Cuneta on trouble waters upon making a big decision to transfer to third class TV network TV5 from the first class TV network –ABS-CBN channel 2;for she was continually bombarded with bad public criticisms lately because of her transfer to TV5?

She herself admitted that she was affected and annoyed by bad public criticisms on her move and was hurt, “All of a sudden ang sama-sama naming. It’s unfair to us artists, because this is our choice..,ang sakit-sakit naman ng mga paratang..”

Her move to TV 5 was cast in a bad light by those who admire her on the Kapamilya Network (ABS-CBN) as “Mukhang Pera” and was spread on media; prints and online. Her admirers wants her to stay on the Kapamilya Network, thus her sudden move was resented by her admirers for, for 23 years she was in the Kapamilya Network and they was hurt by her move which Ms. Cuneta could not comprehend why some react this way and that and in the same way her admirers on the Kapamilya Network could not comprehend why also.

“Nasaktan ako kasi some people thought it was the one billion..I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when I get labeled mukhang pera…..Pinaghirapan ko naman ito for more than 30 years..”, she confessed.

However, though she transfer to TV5 she has no any resentment or hurt feelings toward her former bosses in the Kapmilya Network, as well as also her former bosses in the Kapamilya Network toward her; they respect her decision as she respect them.

It is only the public that is making noise regarding her transfer to TV5, but however, it is the public itself who make her Star and famous Celebrity.

Thus, if she was continually cast upon a bad light by public viewers, her TV career or her career itself will be really on the bad luck since her new show in TV 5,which entitled : “ Sharon: Kasama Mo,Kapatid” is similar to her talk show on the Kapamilya Network. “ …I thought I deserved, and wanted my name on my show again. And it was TV 5 that gave it to me..”

Seems like another Willie and Wowowee transferring into TV5 as Willie and Willing-Willie and because of bad publicity it was reformatted into Wil Time Bigtime; so what will happen to Ms. Cuneta if her new show on TV 5 is a copy cat; “You are (It is) nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat!” Let us see what will happen on her second-rate copycat TT show on TV 5..

The End Of GMA 7

Has GMA 7, one of leading TV network in the Philippines lying all this time that they are the number one and leading TV network in the entire Philippines presenting ratings report to validate their claim of TV supremacy on Philippine Television yet they themselves claim that their net income has drop drastically from P2.82 billion in 2010 into P1.72 billion in 2011?

“Our net income took a beating..We experienced the lowest net income level, of the past 5 years in the 4th quarter of 2011..”,admitted and verified by GMA Channel 7 vice president for finance, Ronaldo P. Mastrili.

Added to that, the GMA 7 “Kapuso” chair and CEO Felipe L. Gozon is sure to sell the TV network to PLDT/Smart/Sun/TV5’s chair and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan for P60 billion pesos but Pangilinan wants to buy the TV network between P45 billion pesos and P51 billion pesos.
Morever, GMA 7 advertising revenue has dropped into P13.08 billion pesos.

The sell of GMA 7 according to GMA Network president Gilberto Duavit Jr. is inevitable. “The is not to say that GMA 7 will not be sold, but at the moment we are presently not pursuing serious negotiations with the PLDT group because they have not offered us a price that is acceptable to our shareholders..”

But in contradictory report, GMA 7 executives says that the TV network is not for sale, however, they themselves claim that it can sold if the price is right. Therefore, GMA channel 7 is indeed for sale and GMA channel 7 is indeed lying that they rule the Philippine Televison.

For if they rule the Philippine Television how come they themselves admit that they lost revenues mostly last year and the TV network is for auction and PLDT/Smart/Sun/TV5 chair and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan is buying the TV network for P60 billion pesos?
However, Chair and CEO of GMA 7 Atty. Felipe Gozon, said in contradictory statements regarding the report or rumor as he said though there are already some proofs that GMA 7 is ready for sale and Manuel V. Pangilinan is buying it.

“…”Out of this world naman yun…That is a very wild rumor.”

“”Kung may mag-o-offer ng P500 billion, kahit tulog ako, gisingin n’yo ako, I will sell.”

Therefore, the rumor is true that it could be the end of GMA 7 or let us see what will happen next though the TV network executives are denying it on media.

New Arena

Then, the Smart Araneta Coliseum (formerly Araneta Coliseum) thinks it is the only premier events arena in the Philippines, but now another premier events arena will arise to compete the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Mall of Asia Arena.

According to Senior vice president of West Avenue Theatre Corp., the managing arm of the Mall of Asia Arena, Mall of Asia Arena is part of the Mall of Asia master plan to have a full entertainment center that will cater entertainment events that will be integrated with their SM shopping malls since their respective SM branches host inside and outside entertainment events, thus came about the Mall of Asia Arena similar to Smart Araneta Coliseum or events centers that caters large entertainment and sport events.

“..so the next missing component is an entertainment infrastructure to accommodate a good number of people, that’s why the Mall of Asia came about..”, says Edgar Tejerero.

The first-level of Mall of Asia Arena is consist of 16,000 seats and a full house capacity of 20,000 including those standing and performers area.”…It will also be equipped with cutting-edge technology and world-class amenities..” The first level is reserve or will be home of the UAAP and the NCAA Basketball League.

The flooring of the first-level of Mall of Asia Arena is made from Robins Inc. flooring materials; spalding basketball goals;”..Daktronics Scoreboard similar to what the NBA is using.
The Arena is also consist of press rooms, meeting and greeting rooms for press conferences ,four dugouts, nine loading bays, for ingress-egress of food, container trucks,escalators,16 smoking lounges, wi-fi ready stations, PWD access lanes. It is also equipped with CCTV cameras , police desk, a clinic and a standby ambulance.

It also consist of Corporate Suites or “..private rooms with its own restroom..” sofas, mini bar, and a private gallery with cinema seats..”

In comparison to other event venues in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia, according to Tejerero.. “..that’s what really makes Mall of Asia Arena a lot different from other venues not just in the country but in Southeast Asia, because we haven’t seem a venue in Southeast Asia that has Corporate Suites similar to that on the United States..”

In competition with Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Mall of Asia Arena is located on the south so they could coexist without clashing one another’s business.

The Mall of Asia of Arena is located at Pasay city Philippines and will open its doors at May 19,2012 and will held its first entertainment show featuring Lady Gaga on May 21 and Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block on June 3.

Conveying Wrong Message

I know perhaps some of you have already known and notice that the famous hit song of Filipino folk artist Freddie Aguilar “Anak” (Child) conveys wrong message regarding relationship between parents and their children which can be deceitful and misleading to those unsuspecting listeners which they will thought that the song’s message is utterly right and correct whereas the message it conveys definitely fall short of the reality happening between parents and children.

For the song itself promotes domestic tyranny and violence against children by their parents making the parents not liable or responsible to the waywardness of their children but rather put all the entire blame and mistake on the frailness of a child and wash the hands of the parents from their own responsibility and accountability as a parent and guide of their children making the parents infallibly authoritative or an “almighty god” that is not capable of making mistakes.

In particular lyrics of the song, “..Anak, bakit ka nagka ganian?..(child, why have you become like that?)”;the parents hypocritically and blindly ask their child why their child has become wayward on his/her way, as if the parents has nothing to do why their “beloved”(ironically depicted on the song) has gone astray.

For if the parent doesn’t have any mistake and shortcoming to the way they nurture and rear their child and if their child is “beloved”, how come their child act differently from something they have sown to their child as their guide or how come their child has gone astray?

Nope, it is not the environment, it is not the friends or the modern culture a child is exposed with, rather it is the parents’ way and methods of parenting and guiding their child. Parenting is not playing “blame games” .But this usually most parents does when they find their child somewhat astray or stubborn and rebellious. For if they filled their child with overflowing love and affection, will the child not reciprocate the same?

Where in the world that when a farmer planted or sown an apple seeds yet it grows into a mango tree? An apple seed will not become a mango tree!; rather what one sown, so also one will reap!

Thus, there is no one to blame for the waywardness of a child but to his/her parents themselves who leads the child to the wayward direction and molds and creates the child to be rebellious, unloving, disrespectful, etc. It is the kind of parenting is the bottom-line. But the song “Anak”(Child) have miss this point and reality. Actually, it is the parents in the song who should ask forgiveness to their child and not the child who ask forgiveness for the irresponsible parenthood one’s parent parent one to be.

But to say in a song that parents are infallible guides and the wayward attitude of a child is to be blame to the child itself, to others and to elsewhere, is definitely an ignorant assessment of reality in the society.

For parenting is not playing “god’ and “master” over children rather it is becoming a “guide”, a “council”, and a “bestfriend” or as “mother-father(parents)” in their journey in their own chosen way of lives.

But unfortunately, some parents even of course in the Philippines become abusive on their rights over their children and loves to play “god” or “master”; Much even more whenever they heard the song “Anak”(Child) which fattened their authoritative Ego. Thus, attracting and promoting more domestic violence and domestic tyranny. For it creates a thought-virus or a bad Philippine meme to whomever it hears the song if one is ignorant of the reality in the society.

The song should be ban.

Sine Gapo(Olongapo Movie)

If Metro Manila Philippines have annual film festival so called “Metro Manila Film Festival(MMFF)” during the Christmas period, likewise also, Olongapo city Philippines is planning to have its own too ,but not yet clear if it is during Christmas season or just part of the “fiesta” in Olongapo city via Cinemalaya Foundation Inc. collaboration.

For recently, the Cinemalaya Foundation Inc. have invaded Olongapo city and held a film festival last November 26-30,this year 2011entitled “Cinemalaya Sa Gapo” at the Olongapo City Convention Center wherein the government officials of Olongapo city were inspired to have their own film festival which they will entitled “SineGapo Film Festival”, since according to them, the recent film festival brought by Cinemalaya to them have somewhat connection to their vision for Olongapo city and according to Olongapo city Mayor James “Bong’ Gordon jr., their city is a best place to build film production studios that is similar to Universal Studios in California for the city’s forest hubs, seaport, airport, bays and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone says it could be. Moreover, having a film festival will benefit more the city’s tourism industry. As Olongapo city councilor De los Reyes said:

“We see Cinemalaya as one of the more appropriate avenues to carry out our vision. We have begun our efforts in encouraging and exposing Olongapenos to the arts, particularly by sending a delegation during the opening of the recent Cinemalaya Film Festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, “

But actually, it was the Olongapo councilor Bugsy De la Torre who brought or do the initiative to bring the Cinemalaya on their city as part of their fiesta events being him as the fiesta executive committee chairman. For the purpose why he brought the Cinemalaya on their city because according to him, he or the local government of Olongapo city wants to discover and support young filmmakers that could arise and could be in their city thus, he wants to have a collaboration of the city with Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc. and will eventually create their annual film festival entitled “SineGapo Film Festival” similar to Metro Manila Film Festival but their own film festival is different compare to Metro Manila Film festival because theirs are from Cinemalaya rather than from the mainstream film studios.

As Olongapo city councilor Edic Piano says, being a vice chairman of the fiesta committee:

“We hope to screen Cinemalaya films yearly..The plan is to eventually make our own films and create what we would call a ‘SineGapo Film Festival’”

The Cinemalaya Foundation Inc, have no any hesitations regarding the plan collaboration since it is the aim of the foundation to bring their films on the regions of the Philippines. As Cinemalaya Festival Director Nestor O. Jardin says “

“The CCP and Cinemalaya Foundation have always worked together in the past to bring Cinemalaya to the regions. This is part of our outreach program aimed at promoting Philippine independent cinema to as many Filipinos as possible by showcasing films that speak of the unique Philippine culture, experience and values which one would not normally see in the mainstream cinema. We therefore look at this project as educational in thrust.”

Cinemalaya Foundation Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit or according to them no-for-profit and non-government foundation that is dedicated and committed on the development and promotion of Philippine Independent Film that held annual film competition and festival by Filipino independent film makers which aims “…to encourage the creation of new cinematic works by Filipino filmmakers – works that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity. It also aims to invigorate the Philippine filmmaking by developing a new breed of Filipino filmmakers….”

Piolo’s Mistake

After the controversial break-up of the famous Filipino celebrity real life erstwhile sweethearts KC Conception and Piolo Pascual, still Filipinos interpret the almost explicit meaning of the mushy statements of KC Conception on the TV program “The Buzz” as an indication of clear proof of conviction of the past lingering rumors that Mr. Piolo Pascual is indeed a gay man, though KC Conception never directly and plainly stated it as the cause of their break up!
According to her, all this time as she was in a relationship with Mr. Pascual, as a real woman she can’t even find the man every woman look for a man in a heterosexual relationship from Mr. Pascual. Yet despite of this missing piece she diligently seek and expect from Mr. Pascual as a standard qualification or distinction of a real man, she still patient and longsuffering to understand Mr. Pascual all the way for she believes that Mr. Pascual is a good man and because she loves Mr. Pascual.

But she is only human and woman that need the real affection of a real man and this overwhelming lacking in her relationship with Mr. Pascual have already finally drive her to succumb into a realization that she could not be the one Mr. Pascual really need and that Mr. Pascual could be looking for someone which every real woman like her could not give. She finally break her silence and sob in a national television on the Philippine TV program “The Buzz” and reveal she has been keeping all this time in her heart in her relationship with Mr. Pascual.

Consequently, the general Filipino public are quick to conclude and judge that Mr. Pascual is indeed gay and some uneducated Filipinos even mock Mr. Pascual on social networking sites hoping they could find revenge for Ms. Concepcion but to no good because these Filipinos who mock Mr. Pascual as gay only shows that Filipinos have base morals and practicing hate crime against homosexuals. It is understandable that there is no law that punishes hate activities in the Philippines since it is a “demo-crazy” form of government, thus any one can do whatever they want to do.

Moreover, this mal-educated Filipinos even accused Mr. Piolo Pascual of deceiving the public for hiding his real gender and pretend to be straight gay without even a confirmation from Mr. Pascual himself that he is indeed gay man. And though he may be a gay man, it is understandable for a closet gay to not reveal their real gender on the intolerant and morally hypocrite public; much even more, if one is a famous celebrity. If ordinary common closet gay guys felt the fear, pressure and suffering for hiding their real color; what more if one is a famous celebrity like Mr. Pascual?

But some Filipino do not understand this because some Filipinos are morally hypocrite because Catholicism dominates their moral line of thinking, thus influenced and brainwashed to hate homosexuals.
This could be Piolo’s biggest mistake in his own career if some Filipinos are still close-minded about whatever the reason for his break-up with Ms .Concepcion that he should quickly fix before his showbiz career will slowly fade away.

Some of KC Concepcion’s statement that brings someone to think that Mr.Pascual could be gay :

“May mga hinahanap ako na napaka basic lang na hanapin ng isang babae sa isang boyfriend,sa isang lalaki.Ayoko nang pumunta pa sa details kasi ayaw kong siraan siya..” (“There are that I am looking for which is basic for a woman to look for a boyfriend, for a man. I don’t want to go further in the details for I don’t want to malign him”)

“Masakit man sabihin, siguro ay nag-fail din ako dahil hindi ako ‘yung Kailangan niya sa buhay niya.Or hindi ako ‘yung hinahanap niya sa buhay niya. And hindi, hndi ko maibigay sa kanya ‘yung kailangan niya” (Even if it is hard to say it,perhaps I fail also that I am not the one he needs in his life. Or I am not the one he is looking for in his life. And I am not able to give that what he needs.”)

No More Badmouthing

The Philippines famous TV host and comedian Mr. Joey de Leon guesting on ABS-CBN TV program “The Buzz” to promote his movie “Won’t Last A Day Without You” becomes a trending tweets on the world famous micro blogging site Tweeter on regards to Philippine tweets. This is so because Joey de Leon is known in the Philippine Entertainment industry that badmouths openly on his own shows on the rival network of ABS-CBN, which is GMA channel 7,shows on ABS-CBN particularly their rival noontime shows from Magandang Tanghali Bayan (MTB) to Wowowee and even on ratings game, whereas, he is a former TV host and star on ABS-CBN then before his noontime show “Eat Bulaga” transfer to GMA channel 7.Thus,his guesting on an ABS-CBN show recently at the “The Buzz” was a big surprise for most Filipinos who know him.

According to him on his interview with Ms. Toni Gonzaga on the ABS-CBN show “The Buzz”, he already want to erase the loyalist-type attitude whenever TV station he may be; no more “Kapuso,””Kapamilya”,or “Kapatid” mindset. For according to him, he learned something from being part of almost every TV stations in the Philippines from RPN channel 9 to ABS-CBN channel 2 to GMA channel 7 and now to TV5 channel 5 and realized they are all His’ and all have made him what he is now.

Thus, he is now guesting on an ABS-CBN show no more with a bitter heart and a bad mouth, to promote his latest movie, ”Won’t Last A Day Without You” wherein the movie he is promoting is produced by ABS-CBN by its film production Star Cinema.

This is actually a good step for him to cleanse some of his bad image that have linger on the memories of some Filipino viewers by his badmouthing activities then on public TV, into a renewed and truly wholesome Joey de Leon which is he tries to project since then as a Philippine comedian.

Speaking of badmouthing rival shows on one’s own TV show, a young matinee idol is following this step without a spark of consciousness that it could tainted his sweet and heartthrob image on the Philippine Entertainment industry.

The young famous actor I am talking about is Mr. Richard Gutierrez, who unknowingly spews“fucking” words that will screw up his sweet and heartthrob image on his Reality show “Survivor Philippines” by comparing his show against the rival reality show on other network. The rival reality show he has badmouthed on his own reality show is the Pinoy Big Brother.

Here his statement: “If you want pampering, and total safety join that fucking Pinoy Big Brother! This is survivor!”

He said this to Team Tala on his show “Survivor Philippines”. However, on the second thought, is his statement a part of the script he just acting as an aggressive host on an aggressive show? If so, still the script writers have put Richard Gutierrez on the bad light by speaking up a bad word (“fucking”) against the rival show. But if not since his show is a reality show, it could be his own words, then he is guilty of badmouthing a rival reality show. So far, Richard Gutierrez hasn’t yet commented on this issue.

Actually, badmouthing a rival show on one’s TV show on public is a projection of one’s insecurity on one’s TV show against the rival show on other rival network or TV station, because the rival shows have something that rocks the status quo of one’s show, like TV ratings or public viewership and sponsors.

Badmouthing another rival show is an easy yet bad way to get notice from the public and raise one’s show’s TV ratings or viewership using the high ratings of the rival show through casting something fishy against it.
